Sometimes you review items of your collection again and again because you love this special item or you are searching for some more information on a passport. Suddenly you explore something new in your document. Maybe when I purchased it I didn’t pay too much attention when reviewing the document at that time. However this Austrian passport issued 20. Nov. 1936 in Vienna has a rare documented evidence of the “Anschluss” Austrias into Nazi Germany. The passport has on page 7 the following stamp…

The Austrian government decided on 12th March 1938 to join Nazi Germany. Austrian citizens vote officially again on 10th April 1938 for “THE ANSCHLUSS” (Annexion into German Third Reich). Official sources stating that 99,5% of the Austrians voting with YES for the ANSCHLUSS.

“Do you agree with the reunification of Austria with the German Reich that
was enacted on 13 March 1938 and do you vote for the list of our leader Adolf Hitler?”
