IT ALL STARTED WITH TYPEWRITERS…

Issuing passports 50 years ago was manual labor, which had to be done very accurately. Handwritten passports back then were standard, and sometimes, today, we can find beautifully handwritten travel documents.

DILETTA came out with the first typewriter in 1965, a manual typewriter, of course. The DILETTA 10, followed by the DILETTA 100 and DILETTA SG3. However, typewriter for passports existed already since the 1950s. Diletta Passport Typewriter History

Five years later, in 1970, the first electric typewriter, the DILETTA SG50 was available. 1978 saw electronic typewriters like the DILETTA ES100B, DILETTA ES105, DILETTA ES108, DILETTA ES108, a passport typewriter with Monitor.

The 1990s, ended the area of typewriting machines as passports were now much more standardized and got personalized by passport printers.
