In Memory of Guy Van Keer – Rest in Peace
It is with great sadness that I share the news of Guy Van Keer’s passing at the age of 80, as informed by his daughter, Patty.
Guy was a passionate and dedicated collector, with an extraordinary collection of travel documents. He started passport collecting more than 40 years ago, when nobody knew that you even can collect vintage passports. Although I had the privilege of knowing him for over 15 years, we only met once in person at his home in Belgium. During that visit, I was fortunate to catch a glimpse of his impressive collection. In his characteristic generosity, Guy gifted me several books and materials on passports, some of which I later shared with fellow collectors.
In 2004 Guy was featured in the Guinness Book of Records with the largest passport collection, then 8110 travel documents.
His passion, knowledge, and kindness will be deeply missed in our community and beyond.
Thank you for your friendship. RIP, Guy.
