The Premier Passport Archive by Historian Tom Topol
“As a passport collector, I research old travel documents: how they developed, how they were designed, where they traveled, and who carried them. They were made to expire. The ones nobody threw away became memories, then part of my collection.”

When Is a Passport Vintage or Antique?
There is no official age at which a passport becomes “vintage” or “antique.” These are descriptive terms used by collectors and in the wider world of historical objects.
Vintage passports generally come from recognizable past eras of passport design, while antique passports are generally a century old or more. For collectors, age is only part of the story. Design, country of issue, historical period, rarity, condition and evidence of travel can all contribute to a passport’s interest.
Current Highlights From My Own Collection Right Now
Sir Richard Attenborough Passport used to make Gandhi
You’re looking at a rare Sir Richard Attenborough passport spanning 1978-1988, packed with travel stamps from the first page to the last. This isn’t some lightweight curiosity. It’s a document tied to a man who spent more than sixty years shaping the films people still talk about. And it’s AVAILABLE!

What’s The Value Of Your Old Passport?
Your old, obsolete passport isn’t just an expired document. It’s a small archive of someone’s travel, and sometimes of their life.
Tell me the country of issue, the issuing date, the condition, and whatever background or provenance you know. I’ll take it from there. It starts with a conversation, not a sales pitch.
