One of the most contentious shifts was Delcampe’s move to make BUYERS responsible for paying the platform fees—breaking with a long-standing industry norm where SELLERS typically shoulder this cost. This change, while perhaps aimed at streamlining buyer experience, has backfired. Sellers, particularly small-time or hobbyist vendors, report that the increased fees have eroded their already thin profit margins, making it unviable to continue listing items on the platform.

One long-time user described it as “more of a hassle than it’s worth” and has decided to move to other platforms like eBay instead.

Some users who’ve been active on the platform for over 20 years say the site has deteriorated significantly, citing unresolved technical issues, opaque support procedures, and account closures without proper notice. In one case, a user from Colorado claimed their account was shut down due to inactivity and that Delcampe kept their balance—a move they deemed “shady”.
Another red flag is the platform’s increasingly hostile moderation style. Accusations have surfaced of staff threatening users who criticize the platform, particularly on issues surrounding Mangopay and Delcampe’s shifting policies. Such authoritarian tactics have only fueled the distrust.
All these factors have led to a significant drop in sales volume, with many users publicly stating their intention to migrate to other marketplaces. My posts were flagged as violations of Delcampe’s Terms and Conditions for being “provocative” and subsequently removed. If a well-written, critical piece is considered provocative, it only reinforces the impression that Delcampe is struggling to cope with the mounting pressure and the significant decline in its user base—which, in essence, was the main point of my original post.
Interestingly, one member had already responded to the now-deleted comment before it was taken down.

The Delcampe forum is completely public—anyone can view the content without needing to be a member. Registration is only required to post or comment. Given that security is a priority for Delcampe, displaying usernames publicly poses a risk. It effectively exposes half of a user’s login credentials, making it easier for malicious actors to target accounts.
Interestingly, Delcampe hides usernames in the bidding list to protect user privacy. So why isn’t the same approach applied to the forum? It’s unclear why this isn’t recognized as a potential security concern.
Additionally, forum posts and comments appear to remain visible indefinitely—even after a user deletes their account. This raises serious questions about data protection and GDPR compliance. Shouldn’t users have the right to have their content removed or anonymized in line with GDPR?
Based on these recent hostile actions by Delcampe, I can now personally confirm the same negative experiences that other members have already described above.

⚠️ Delcampe appears unwilling to address these concerns and has failed to re-establish itself as a user-focused platform. Its decline is likely to persist. As a result, I will be deleting my account in the coming days, once my withdrawals are completed.
