Another captivating email from an engaging reader
One day, I received the following email via my website… John Quincy Adams Passport
“Hello Tom, I recently cleaned out the house of Charles Francis Adams III, the 44th U.S. naval secretary. The passport belongs to his wife, Francis Lovering Adams. It is dated 1929; however, she was born in 1869. They are the great-grandchildren of John Quincy Adams and the great-great-grandchildren of John Adams, the second president of the U.S.A. Please let me know what you think and if you are interested.”

Well, my fascination was piqued, though not for my own benefit. I instinctively sensed that this extraordinary find would be a treasure for my dear friend and fellow collector, Brian. Little did I know, concealed within that initial email lay a remarkable revelation—it was a diplomatic passport! With great enthusiasm, I divulged this secret to the young and eager gentlemen named Dylan, sharing my estimations regarding the document’s type, condition, it’s past voyages, and the storied lineage it might possess. It was then that I decided to bring Dylan and Brian together… John Quincy Adams Passport
The culmination of our efforts turned out to be immensely gratifying for everyone involved. Dylan secured an impressive price for the passport, while Brian acquired a truly exceptional addition to his esteemed collection—a United States diplomatic passport. Serendipitously, their paths crossed in person, for Brian happened to be in the United States at the time. John Quincy Adams Passport
