Passport History Books
Passport history remains a narrowly developed field. Few works treat the passport as a historical object in its own right, with its own origins, functions, and transformations over time. Most scholarship approaches passports only indirectly, within broader studies of borders, migration, or state administration. This is my contribution to the history of the passport itself and to the individuals who designed, issued, regulated, and used passports. We need more passport history books.
