Italian Diplomatic Passport With Huge Watermark
Italian Diplomatic Passport Watermark
This is the first document of this type I ever acquired, and it has a beautiful hidden feature – a fantastic & unusual large watermark of Victor Emmanuel I. Besides that, the document was issued to a military attaché in Ankara, Turkey. Several diplomatic visas are documented so for Turkey, Bulgaria and the Independent State of Croatia (NDH) – an Axis-Power state! Enjoy the diplomatic passport of Captain Augusto Andoly.
Victor Emmanuel III Italian Diplomatic Passport Watermark
(11 November 1869 – 28 December 1947) He was the King of Italy from 29 July 1900 until his abdication on 9 May 1946. In addition, he claimed the thrones of Ethiopia and Albania as Emperor of Ethiopia (1936–41) and King of the Albanians (1939–43), claims not recognized by the other great powers. During his reign of nearly 46 years, which began after the assassination of his father Umberto I, the Kingdom of Italy became involved in two world wars. His reign also encompassed the birth, rise, and fall of Italian Fascism. Italian Diplomatic Passport Watermark
Abdication in 1946
Victor Emmanuel abdicated his throne in 1946 in favor of his son Umberto II, hoping to strengthen support for the monarchy against an ultimately successful referendum to abolish it. He then went into exile to Alexandria, Egypt, where he died and was buried the following year. His remains were returned in 2017 to rest in Italy.
The Italians dubbed him the Soldier King for guiding his country through both world wars and for Italy’s triumph in the First World War. Due to his height of 1.53 m (5 ft 0 in), he was also nicknamed “little saber.” Italian Diplomatic Passport Watermark
