Yu.A. Kirichenko was born on January 13, 1936, in the city of Zernograd, Rostov region. In 1958, he graduated from Kyiv State University, them. T.G. Shevchenko, in 1964 – Higher Diplomatic School of the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Throughout his career, Yu.A. Kirichenko worked in various positions in the central and foreign offices of the USSR and Russian Foreign Ministries. In 1973-1975 – USSR Ambassador to Iceland, 1975-1982. – USSR Ambassador to Norway, 1986-1991. – Ambassador of the USSR to Mauritius. He retired in 1998 from the position of chief adviser to the First Department of the CIS countries.

Yu.A. Kirichenko earned the Order of Friendship of Peoples, received the “Badge of Honor,” was decorated with the medal “For Labor Valor,” and achieved several other prestigious honors.

Nevertheless, his wife Tatiana held a significant background—she was not just an ordinary person. In fact, she was the daughter of Andrei Antonovich Grechko, the USSR Defense Minister from 1967 to 1976, a figure of considerable prominence during the Brezhnev era. Between 1953 and 1957, Grechko was the Commander-in-Chief of Soviet Forces in East Germany. During this time, he commanded the suppression of the East German uprising of 1953.

Grechko was married to Claudia Vladimirovna Grehcko (1907-1990), with whom he had a daughter, Tatyana Andreevna (1927-2002). Tatyana was married to Soviet and Russian diplomat Yuriy Kirichenko (1936-2017), the son of First Secretary of the Communist Party of Ukraine Aleksey Kirichenko.
Grechko received a state funeral and the honor of cremation on April 30, 1976. His ashes found their resting place in an urn, interred alongside the Kremlin Wall Necropolis.
