Passport Fees Around The World 2019

Here are the passport fees around the world originally based on an older British Passport Office list. The old (2010) original PDF-file can be downloaded here. It is interesting to see how passport prices have increased over time. Updated data coming from readers and web sources (passport office if possible). However, the list and its data are dynamic, but I will try to update from time to time.

LEBANON has the most expansive passport in the world!  A 10-year valid passport is at LBP 500.000 (USD 330). This fee slip was sent in by a reader.

Currently, 140 of 196 countries are using ePassports

Remarks/Considerations
Someone could also question why embassies charge more to issue a passport if you are abroad. Shouldn’t any embassy support it’s citizens abroad when in need without an extra charge? In Cambodia, the passport fees are three times higher at $100 than in the neighbor country, Thailand, with only $33. The Thai passport was improved already twice but remained at the same fees at least since 2010. The third generation of Thai eMRTD is expected for mid-2020 (with ten years validity). The New Zealand passport was in 2010 at $100 and in 2019 at $128. Australia $145/$205. Germany $66/$67 (Same fees since 2010, even after a complete redesign in 2017).Basically, passports are getting always more expensive as the security printing industry is arguing they are also getting safer. Not necessarily a valid argument in my opinion. All data are for a standard adult passport. Fees in USD!
